SHORT FILMS SELECTION

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is a federal public agency that produces and distributes Canadian films and digital media, especially documentaries, animation, and interactive works.

Its purpose is to tell Canadian stories, reflect Canadian society and culture, and support innovative filmmaking. Many of its productions are available free online through the NFB website.

In French, it is called the l'Office national du film du Canada (ONF).

The Flying Sailor

These four short films tell very different stories, but all are full of imagination. "Sur la route" follows four sisters who make up stories during a trip across the Canadian Prairies. Another film features a princess with narcolepsy whom an entire kingdom is trying to wake up. In a third story, a poor boy falls in love with a girl whose tears turn into pearls. Finally, "Le matelot volant" tells the story of a sailor hurled into the air during the 1917 Halifax explosion and offers a reflection on life and its fragility.

LA PAUSE MUSICALE /
MUSICAL BREAK

The common way to teach the negation in French is the written way, which read like that: "Elle n'est pas Parisienne." However, we do not speak like we write. While the vast majority of native French speakers will just drop de "ne (or n')" when orally expressing themselves, they will keep it when they write.
